Nice one Carlos. I was going to bid on that one ;) glad you got it. It seems well made with better than average engraving. Are the fittings silver or aluminium?

Carlos, that's a nice bolo.

Am sure a lot noticed these also -- (a) blade is chisel ground and has a particular shape that points to a Visayan origin; (b) on the scabbard's upper portion there's a semi-circular metal flap which obviously mimics the original leather flap found on Visayan scabbards; and (c) the wooden scabbard again points to a Visayan origin, because in Luzon it's mostly leather scabbards.

On the other hand, the decorative sphere at the end of the hilt is not traditionally Visayan (and is more of a Luzon trait). But then the bolo's hilt is well-adorned and thus it's not surprising if there are special decorations like that sphere and trimmings, etc.

Congrats on that nice catch :)

Thanks for the answers!! by the moment I havenīt the bolo, I think now is travelling to Spain.
To me this is a bolo with a superior quality of anothers bolo/knives from WWII. The engravings looks good and the pommel looks good too, I dream that it could be silver...

Nice piece, better than most of those from WWII.

The mounts on the hilt look silver while those on the scabbard look aluminum.

It seems like if the bolo was early than scabbard, maybe a pre wwii bolo was engraved and made a new sheath...
best regards
