Jambiya-like dagger, Africa?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
Here we have this variation of jambiya, the seller claims that's Balcan. However, I strictly doubt - my opinion it's somewhere from North Africa - maybe Sudan? And I also think it's some kind of tourist daggers - like those syrian jambiyas of XX century...Anyone help, please? Manythanks in advance~ |
I would vote for the Syrian origin to start with.
In any case, aluminum inserts within the handle put it into the post-WWII time interval. Now, guys, you can start flaying me..... |
I agree with Ariel, this is mid to late 20th century Syrian or Lebanese jambiya.

This is very similar to Syrian (Majdal Shams), but it is for certain Ethiopian and say about contemporary dagger.

Thanks a lot everyone,
Yes it's pretty easy to confuse with syrian pieces, but I was sure it's not syrian from the very beginning, since the style is a little bit different. Actually it's more primitive compared to any syrian I would say. So as I thought it comes from Africa, thanks again. |

Yes. 100% Ethiopian.
