Two Katars
2 Attachment(s)
Hello,
These two katars were bought in nepal by my father, The top seems very old. chimes nicely when struck with a finger, highly symmetrical, and the blade thickens near the tip. (I hope this can be seen in the second picture) The bottom one is less clear to me: Bronze handle, steel blade, but is seems too 'rough' for a tourist item. and seems pretty old as well. What do you think about them? furthermore, what is the best way to clean and preserve the first one? It has been cleaned with a soft scotch-bright with much gun oil, and another gentle pass with number ZERO, sand paper, with a lot of oil near the edge, the blade is very thin. Yaniv |
Hi Yaniv
The top katar is old probably 1820-50 or so the other is hard to tell it does not seem traditionally made to me more of a composite piece. As far as condition goes both are in pretty poor shape but the larger one should be able to be fixed up a bit. Good Luck Lew |
