SADDAM'S GOLDEN GUNS

Hardly antique, but these pics came my way recently as being Saddam's guns. I have no way of establishing if in fact they are, but are interesting anyway. Thought members might like a look. :)

Hi Stu
I might be completely wrong but my recollection is that it was one of Saddam's sons who was keen on gold plated guns. Interesting photos in any case.
cheers

For a minute there, I thought this topic was under the swap forum! :D

Actually, it has been well established that Saddam did in fact have several guns made with gold. During the early part of the war, a Canadian soldier got in quite a lot of trouble trying to smuggle one of these out of the country. Perhaps someone can find the old news article?

Thanks Stuart,
What a great thread! I hadn't seen some of these before.
The gold plated Dragunov is fantastic.

Certainly a collection of 'bling' unlikely to be ever rivalled!

I think both Saddam and his son liked these 'bling-bangs'
I believe it was Uday wasn't it? I wonder if he was using some of these when he was killed in the shootout in Mosul?

Thanks Stuart.....pretty, but I think I'd be more impressed to see some of the historic weapons with true heritage that undoubtedly remain lost, there must have been some fantastic swords.

While these are of course, guns beyond our scope of discussion, they are also a truly outrageous reminder of history unfolding as we speak. Thats really about all I have to say on these. Let's let it go at that OK.

All best regards,
Jim

IT WOULD CUT DOWN ON COROSION BUT BE ESPECIALLY BAD FOR SPECIAL OPS AND SURELY DRAW FIRE FROM ANY ENEMY WHO SAW YOU CARRING ONE. THEIR FAVORITE MOVIE MUST HAVE BEEN JAMES BOND IN THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN :D
