Indonesian sword

Hi guys,

To those of you I talk to regularly you are aware of my rising interest in adding Indonesian swords to my personal collection and to those who collect clubs, sorry, I too am running them down now to add to the collection....you may find another in the bidding wars ;-) and what clubs I have currently offered will be withdraw from sale.

My initial thoughts based on the blade shape were a Moro derivative???

My reference material on such swords is almost zilch, something that I will remedy to soon though.
Until such time I hope someone can provide identification for this sword so I can research further.

Thanks in advance.

This is a Tiboli sword I think?

Looks like that might be an altered Moro kriss blade.

Thanks Lew, the thought entered my mind with what searching I did, but all that I found were a single edged blade and the hilt although consistent by design, lacked the "ringlets" so often seen, I could not see from the images any suspension points for them either???

My first thoughts too Charles, I guess closer inspection will reveal this when it arrives. With Lew raising the Tiboli suggestion, I read a little further and recall reading that the Tiboli smiths often recycled blades and they were considered the highest quality of the area.

Although this form lacks conventional styles I have come across thus far, I do wonder if it can be referred to by a particular name.

Thanks for coming in, lets see what others say and what more I can deduce when it arrives in a couple weeks.

Could also be B'laan more than T'boli. And yes many tribes recycled and traded Moro blades.
