Indonesian sword for identification, Sulawsi?

Hello dear members,
Some time ago I acquired a large Indonesian sword but I never before have seen a similar one but I guess that it is a Sulawesi sword. Any ideas? Can someone provide a name for this one? It is 65 cm long inside the scabbard, 63 cm without, the blade alone has 48,5 cm and it's 10 mm thick at the spine directly behind the handle. Like usual, are all comments are very welcome! :) |
Nice one, Detlef!
Let me know... ;) Yup, I agree with attributing this to Sulawesi, most likely from one of the southern peninsulas. Regards, Kai |
Nice one! Some interesting stuff going on in the blade.

Hello Detlef,

Possibly one of the generic words for sword like kelewang or alameng won't be too far off the mark, I guess. Regards, Kai |

Yes, this makes sense since the blade shape is very similar, also when the one in the from you posted thread is much smaller. Quote:
