Tombak?

Hi, Is this considered a Tombak or is it a different type of spearhead? I bought it last week from a family who had their roots in Indonesia.
I don't see any pamor but I thought I read somewhere that not every tombak is pamor forged?!

This looks like a Moro Budiak spearhead.
Pretty sure it is one. :)

This is a Moro spear head - a commonly used name would be budiak.

This blade certainly is of laminated construction, usually with low contrast materials though.

Kai

Wow, you are very fast guys! Thanks Rick and kai, learned something new!

BTW, the very tip looks re-profiled to me. No big deal

I agree with Rick and kai. Definitely a Moro budiak with a slightly reprofiled tip. It is probably from the 19th C and I think that if yiou clean the blade and etch it you may well find that the central panel is twist core. You can find how to etch it by searching other posts on this site.

For this blade, I don't see any hints suggesting twistcore, Ian.

Kai
