Assam Belt knife?

Just finished on Ebay. Comments welcome. Well I guess the seller thought he would strike gold by claiming it was Moro  but cooler heads prevailed ;)

Good call, Lew. I'm guessing Adi, twentieth century.

At that price Lew I think you did strike gold. I put a lot of value on this sort of complete and not unattractive basic ethnographic material. In my mind this is museum quality representation of work removed from warlords, townships and the market. How many of us have one? we all have dha, kukries, keris and so on. Try and get another one tomorrow? I could get a keris every day of the week. More pics.

That's a rare score I think Lew. Ian posted a picture of one in this thread
http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ighlight=assam

He attributed it to the Abor (also called the Adi) people of Northern Assam.

Can't wait to see better pics!

Nice Lew. Is the strap on the scabbard made to go over the shoulder, or around the waist? Is it woven rattan also?
Thanks for the pics.

Steve
