POSTING PHOTOS
In order that all parts of your thread have the same archival durability, the attachments feature of vBulletin should be used.
Expanded from the FAQ: This forum uses the attachment feature of vBulletin to give you the ability to attach files of certain types to your posts. This could be an image, a text document, a zip file etc. Pictures which you upload must not exceed 1280 pixels in width, 1280 pixels in height or a file size of 1mb if they are not to be rejected. Please refer to this thread for fellow member's suggestions about free programs allowing you to resize and compress pictures. You may include up to 12 attachments per posting, and may reply to your own thread if more photos are needed. When you are making a reply or a new post, there will be a box lower on the page entitled "Additional Options." Click the "Manage Attachments" button within that box to bring up a window where you may indicate the pictures you wish to upload. To attach a file to a new post, simply click the top [Browse] button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive. Additional windows with browse buttons are included so that you may attach multiple images in a single pass. When you are done, click the "Upload" button in the box and wait until the images are uploaded. Then you may close the window and proceed with your post. Only certain types of files may be attached: these are the valid file extensions for files to be attached to this forum: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png txt zip. After posting, the photos will appear in a group at the bottom of your post in the same order as they were entered. |

Note to iPad users
Note to iPad users: Apparently the installed Safari browser "cannot upload files to a website from an iPad because iOS has no user-facing concept of a file system." Opera Mini and the iCab browser are reported to successfully upload images and other attachments to the forum.

Hi Gents,
How does one get a picture uploaded under txt in the below format, I just seem to end up with pictures at the bottom of the post? Picture text text etc picture Text Text Text Picture Cheers Simon |
inline attachments is a feature of a newer version of the vbulletin forum software.
three options. buy the forum the new version and pay someone to install it without losing a lifetime of stuff here. or: attached Picture1 text text etc in a attached picture2 attached picture3 Text Text Text in a attached picture4 attached Picture5 or: gritchyer teeth and bear the pain of doing without. |
Work Around
Unfortunately, the software will sometimes scramble the order of the attachments, occasionally spoiling solution #2.
Simple and compatible with the existing software is, when text and pictures need to travel closely together, to just put each picture in a separate reply with the text that applies. |

Updated size limit and how to use built in Windows 10 features to prepare your images
1 Attachment(s)
The size limit for images of most types that may be used for attachments has been doubled to 2 Mb. The maximum pixel limit in either dimension remains 1280.
In Windows 10 you may use two of the built in accessories to crop, adjust and resize your images so that you may attach them to your posts. |
Thanks, I use Irfanview to crop and resize photos, it also has an add-on 'Riot' that optimises graphics for substantial file sizes without affecting the dimensions or losing very much detail, or 'quality' if any.

Automatic Image Resizing Now Active
