Hi,

I would class this as a 19th century copy of an Italian Renaissance mace, in the style of the first half of the 16th c.

At first sight it does not look bad but on second thought its details, like the loops on the flanges, the decorative motifs and the roped ornaments that actually should be more pronounced, are kind of too playful to be genuine and nearly 500 years old.

I attach samples of more characteristic appearance although I would not guarantee for either of them.

Best,
Michael

A piece of period artwork, from Silbereisen's Chronicon Helvetiae, showing a 15th c. knight with his mace.
