Hi all! I have been following the forum for a while and was hoping for a little help. Would love any thoughts on the providence of this piece. Thanks in advance!!

Could be Filipino. If it is, it might be Tagalog (I have a similar piece) from Luzon, and from the time of the turn of the 20th century. The engraving under the guard looks like a form of okir.

The "X" might be talismanic - common on lots of Philippine bladed weaponry.

Thanks for the thoughts!! It’s an interesting piece and trying to get a good id on it isn’t easy. Wish I had the scabbard.
