Mark on a (T.N.I.?) Klewang

Hello,

I am Dutch and a klewang collector (meaning the Dutch model klewang) I think I have finally laid my hands on a TNI klewang but to be honest; that is only based on a star. The blade is marked with a star and has a 4-digit number (2198) On the left and on the right of thus number are two small marks which resemble the footprint of a crow. The 2198 number also appears on the hilt.
1- can anyone confirm this is or can be a TNI klewang?
2- About the crow footprint (2 to 3mm in size) => I am sure I have seen these before but I have no idea where or when and on what weapon..... Can anyone tell me more on these markings?

Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron,

Welcome to the Forum. Would you mind posting a picture of the whole sword and its scabbard (if you have it).

Hi Ian,

herewith pictures of the whole klewang and scabbard. The scabbard has no markings at all, so I think it is post 1942. The scabbard comes with a pivoting-frog as used in the Dutch Army. The chape is also a non standard chape so I have some doubts about the scabbard.

thanks, kind regards, Ron

Hello, I realize that my question could be unclear so I post an extra picture.

Let's try the Euro Forum

ruiter58,

Perhaps you may get some responses on the European Armoury Forum page. I'll transfer this thread over there to see what they have to say.

Ian
