The Guns at Fort Siloso Singapore
12 Attachment(s)
Fort Siloso is located on Sentoza Island, Singapore. There has been a great deal of effort put into preserving the guns and other historical items here. If you ever get the chance to visit, it is well worth the time. The pics here are only a very small selection of what you can see.
The last pic shows how the heavy cannon were hauled up the hill in the early days of colonial rule. Hope these pics are of interest. Stu |

Hi Stu,
Amazing looking place and thanks for posting the great pics. The way the guns have been given life with the use of the posed figures is very interesting and would perhaps be a way to bring the colour back to some of the Uk's fort and castles, maybe catching the imaginations of the younger visitor to a greater degree. Great stuff! |
Thanks Andy for your comments. What I should perhaps have said is that the gun in the second pic, is rigged with audio commands as they would have been in WW2. The gun also rotates to the "target" and "fires". Really interesting to see and hear.
The long building which appears in the background of the pic showing the mortars, is the building in which the surrender of Singapore was signed. The original table etc is set up as it would have been at the time. As I said, there are MANY very interesting things to see and well worth the visit. |
It all sounds very cool and very well preserved. Its rather sad that so many of the Uk coastal defence works have been lost to the bulldozer or just simple neglect. Its good to see history being kept alive with such passion. Many thanks for posting.

And once again, thank you very much for the great photos of these most interesting and wonderful places.
Best, Robert |
