Hi Steve, Very nice bolo/tenegre. What do you think on the age of this piece, second quarter of the 20th century? Looks like a Visayan piece to me. What is the ferrel made of brass or steel, cast or seamed, soldered or braised ? I can't tell by the picture. What a great face on the hilt. On the blade, is that a filled hole or something else? Another great addition to your ever growing collection. Thanks for sharing !!

Hi Robert,
I don't see it being that old. I'm thinking around WWII or after. It's made in the classic way, but I just don't get the feelling of age. Quite subjective on my part with no evidence to back it up. The ferrule is made of steel and is brazed. The mark in the blade is a forging flaw I think. On the back side is a hole. Thanks, Steve |
