Stratford armourie highlights
 

Stratford armourie museum Shakespeare country. On the old RAF Snettiton site. This is a interesting collection. It is rather like a super sized school boy collection gone mad with no real focus. Ww1 and ww2 stuff mixed with some Victorian colonial bits and pieces. It is a very pleasant visit if you are not too far away. I liked the simplicity cobwebs and home made labels and information sheets stuck on the displays and cases. However there are some real gems here but not lots. I am adding pictures but it is hard work all done on a mobile so I might add more later.

I AM SORRY I MISSED THIS MUSEUM WHEN I WAS IN THE AREA I WILL BE SURE TO TAKE A LOOK WHEN NEXT I VISIT. I VISITED WARWICK CASTLE AND TOOK IN THE PLAY ON A DAY TRIP OUT OF LONDON QUITE A FEW YEARS BACK BUT THE AREA NEEDED MORE TIME FOR A PROPER VISIT.
THE PISO PODANG IS ESPECIALLY NICE VERY RARE TO SEE ONE COMPLETE WITH SCABBARD AND HAIR TUFT. THE HAIR MAKES ME THINK BORNEO BUT THE SWORDS ALWAYS LOOKED LIKE IMPORTS TO ME AND THIS SCABBARD DOESN'T LOOK LIKE DAYAK WORK EITHER ,PERHAPS SOMEONE CAN TELL WHERE THIS KIND OF WORK WAS DONE AND GIVE US A COUNTRY OF ORIGIN FOR THESE IMPORTS TO BORNEO.? I am not a gun person and have never found them interesting. I am not that keen on the aesthetic displayed on classic sporting guns always feel they are rather staid bit this is something else.
