The straight double edged blade is 7¼ inches (18.4 cm) in length and features a well formed mid rib on each side to either side of which is a shallow fuller dipping from the mid rib and then rising back up to the beginning of the edge bevels, with a maximum blade thickness at the proximal mid rib of 0.12 inch (0.31 cm). The steel has a dark age patina especially within the fullers but is bright upon the high points and edge bevels except where there are dark corrosive patches with mild to moderate pitting. The majority of the wooden hilt is composed of dark heart wood with lighter sap wood seen at the periphery where the hilt expands. The wooden hilt has a flattened hexagonal cross section from which the blade arises and then transitions into a relatively round grip that later expands to form a round 'pommel'. The grip has been wound with straight and twisted silver alloy wire. Two silver decorative domes are present on either side just forward of the grip and a larger silver dome acts as a tang washer and terminates the hilt. The dagger measures 12 inches (30.4 cm) in length and weighs 6.2 ounces (175 grams). A dark brown leather sheath has lighter reptilian leather trim at the mouth and towards the tip. The leather on the side of the sheath, also featuring a leather arm band, is deeply embossed and has a high central mid rib; the opposite surface is smooth with lighter embossing and seams at the center or edge. The sheath appears to have shrunken over time and does not fully cover the blade (see sheathed pictures). Overall length with the sheath is just over 12 inches (30.6 cm) with a weight of 8 ounces (228 grams).
