1076 - Philippine Bolo Knife with Caribou Horn Hilt and Leather Sheath

This bolo knife has a single edged blade with a length of about 12 inches (31 cm) and is 0.27 inches (0.68 cm) thick at the base of the blade. The back has had an additional scalloped arc of stock removal to give a 'scimitar' profile. The blade has a bright ground surface with few defects. A brass bolster with geometric decoration at one end provides a transition to a dark carved caribou (water buffalo) hilt capped by an iron tang washer and peened tang. A brown leather scabbard has stamped decoration and two eyelet rivets. Overall length is 18½ inches (47 cm) with a weight of about 23½ ounces (670 grams).
