The typical double edged leaf shaped blade has a low midrib on either face with a filed finish and is 7 inches (18 cm) long with an overall length including the iron stem of 11¾ inches (30 cm). The wooden shaft is reinforced with woven and spirally wound plant fiber and gently tapers in diameter. The wooden shaft very gently tapers in diameter up to a short distal flaring. Overall length is 55½ inches (141 cm) with a weight of just over 15 ounces (431 grams).
