1038 - African Wood Knobkerrie Club Variant with Fluted Carved Head

This nicely carved African club has the basic form of a Zulu or Swazi knobkerrie, but instead of a fairly smooth spherical head there are carved flutings wrapping around the head (somewhat reminiscent of a Swazi Lingelda club, but not spiral). This club is 30 inches (76.3 cm) long with a maximum head diameter of 2.6 inches (6.6 cm). The shaft gently expands in diameter towards the head and no serious cracks are evident, though a chip of wood has been lost some time ago, running a couple of inches (5.5 cm) from the end. The club weighs 11 ounces (314 grams).
