The double-edged blade measures 23½ inches (60 cm) in length and has a robust midrib on each face giving a thickness of about 0.37 inches (0.93 cm) for most of its length. Marks from forging are seen on the concave facets either side of the mid rib with the surface bright on high points. The hilt is round in cross section and of dark wood that tapers down from the insertion of the blade before re-widening to form a bulbous end. The scabbard is of the same dark wood with a similar bulbous widening at the tip end and a more elliptical cross section. The scabbard halves are bound together by three woven bands; a fourth is lost and replaced by modern thin wire. The scabbard shows standard dents and loss of a chip from the bulbous tip end. An integral wooden mount accommodates an extremely soiled heavy fabric strap obviously recycled from a garment with multiple button holes. Overall length is 30 inches (76 cm) with a weight of 27½ ounces (779 grams).
