193 - African Shi-Havu (Congo) Short Sword

This short double-edged sword has a native forged blade mounted with an elliptical in cross section hilt with incised decoration on a display face. These decorative motifs are continued upon one face of a wooden scabbard with four sets of bindings. Lew dated this to the 1920s and it is 21 inches in overall length with an overall weight of 335 grams.
