The iron blade is of typical beaked form and is sharp around along both edges from the protrusions at the base of the blade to the acute point. Three circular perforations are present in a blade with a thickened stem and flat central spine (0.22 inches (0.56 cm) versus 0.08 inches (0.2 cm) on the adjacent flats). The blade has a nice dark patina with forging and shaping tool marks still evident. A dark wooden hilt is lenticular in cross section for the part adjacent to the blade's stem and is here wrapped ny a twisted narrow iron strap. Towards the end of the hilt the cross section rounds before a dramatic expansion in diameter to 2¾ inches (7 cm) with a trace of tang exposed centrally. Lew's notes estimate a dating from 1900-1920. This trumbash weighs just over 17 ounces (481 grams) and has an overall length measured parallel with the hilt of just over 14½ inches (37 cm).
