A small hand axe with an iron blade with a file finished blade darkened by time. Lew dated this as circa 1940 and did not specify more exactly its origin. The handle is rounded and leaf-shaped in profile where the tang of the blade extends through at an angle and is peened over an aluminum spacer. Aluminum trim also decorates the blade adjacent to where it joins the shaft and is present around the periphery of the leaf shaped area and as rings around the turned appearing handle. Most of a band around the tip of the handle has been lost. This axe is 14¾ inches long and weighs 6.6 ounces.
