The straight double edged blade is just over 9 inches (23 cm) in length and features a high, well formed mid rib on each side for a maximum thickness of 0.22 inch (0.5 cm). The AH date of '1318' (corresponding to AD 1900 to 1901) is engraved on each side of the blade along with additional inscriptions that have not been deciphered (these typically will include the maker and place of making). There are a few forging flaws seen on one blade face and a few shallow defects in one edge along with multiple dark corrosive patches with mild to moderate pitting. The dark (except for a subtle area of lighter wood in the 'pommel' disc) wooden hilt has a flattened hexagonal cross section from which the blade arises and transitions into a round cross section. Just over half of the length of the of the forward faceted section of the hilt has been wound with straight and twisted silver alloy wire (a strand of which is slightly loose). The 'pommel' disc periphery is covered with silver alloy upon which is wire granulation work decoration. There is also a tang washer of similar alloy. A narrow crack is noted radiating from the center adjacent to and from the tang. The dagger measures 14.1 inches (35.8 cm) in length and weighs 8.2 ounces (233 grams). A brown leather sheath has lighter reptilian leather trim at the mouth and towards the tip. The leather on side of the sheath is deeply embossed; a few small midline area defects in the leather disclose an inner fabric layer and additional non-distracting defects in the leather may also be seen. The sheath appears to have shrunken over time and does not fully cover the blade (see last picture). Overall length with the sheath is 14½ inches (37 cm) with a weight of 8.9 ounces (254 grams).
