Default New Kampilan for comment

As promised, here are pics of my new Kampilan.
History is: picked (not by me) from an estate/garage sale of a Vet who got it from a Castle in France during WWII. Length is 41", blade 31.5". After the initial minor cleanup, there are brass inlays the length of the spine and silver inlays near the tip. There was dark red hair in the handle at one point. Still some remnants.
Comments? I'm quite pleased with this piece and for a reasonable price.
I'll post more pics after this post goes up.

My apologies, my files were too big to upload. Attempting to resize them.

I am sure that you can find a free tool for resize pictures. Use google.

I love irfan view! I've been using this program for 10 years now. Simple and easy. Allows you to do resizing by the bulk also.

Awesome Rick, thanks. I was going crazy trying to figure it out. At work, it's no problem.
OK, let's try this again. Hopefully I got it right. Appreciate the patience.

Interesting piece. Missing the hair, the eyes, and the staple (perhaps on both sides of crossguard). A good polish would bring out the silver inlay. Brass chased cap on the middle of the crossguard is unusual and nice. May be laminated. Probably Maranao tribe. Congrats!

thanks, I'm quite pleased.
yes, the brass plate is certainly a plus and a surprise. I got this on Craigslist and the pics did not display enough detail. "with great risk comes great reward!"
I already have plans to replace the hair and am considering the staple.
Haven't settled on a full cleaning of the blade or just minor. the possible lamination may decide that

Nice find and worthy of a conservative restore.
I think the blade will show a few nice surprises if fully cleaned.
I look forward to your finished touches.

OK, here's a few pics after my initial "soft touch" cleanup. Only used mild oil on the handle and blade.

It's looking better already. Like everyone, I too like that copper plate on the handguard.

Can you post photos of the kris. It looks like a nice one.

Here are the pics. It did not look this good initially. Was heavily rusted and bent.

That is a nice kris. Love that okir work. Would like to see it etched.
Any before photos when it was rusty and bent. Your son is lucky.

Should be able to post some later this week. Leaving out of town on bisiness shortly. Yes, he initially wanted a Kampilan. The kris came along first
