Default Hello Jasper-help with translation

Hello Jasper. I saw on a recent thread that you were able to identify a swordsmith from a translation. Hoping you might recognize this gentleman. The sword is a small hanger, ealy 18th century. The markings are-

Side 1-(best as I can tell from cursive script) Lu Plifen De osjes Pluys En Olie Flagers Steeg tot Amsterdam

Side 2-Gerret Gurghouft Mr(Master) Swaartvegen in der Kalver Straat

have probably butchered the lettering, but it is so stylized and thus hard to read. Hope you might be able to figure part of it out-

Yes, I was in London, now in Berlin.
I Will reply later.

so herewith this later reply;

you should buy a pair of reading glasses! the tekst probably is;

Side 1- tussen De osjes sluys En Olie slagers Steeg tot Amsterdam

Side 2-Gerret Burghorst Mr Swaardveger in der Kalver Straat

The maker is Gerrit Burghorst.

He made several swords in the period 1740-1760 (maybe later)and had his studio in amstersdam.
18thc Dutch quality weapons were signed with the sword maker and address of the workshop.
There is a hunting hanger ex visser collection with "gerhardt Burg Horst in de warmoes straat tot Amsterdam. (address)
but this may also have been his father.
Gerrit burghorst had his workshop at the Kalverstraat and signed;
Gerrit Burghorst mr zwaardveger in de kalverstraat tot (or a) Amsterdam.
In the 18th century the houses had no numbers so the position between lanes or known points were indicated.

your hanger is very interesting because it indicates the exact location/address of the workshop at the kalverstaat;

between the osjes sluys and olieslagers steeg(tussen de osjes sluys en olie slagers steeg)

can you please mail me pictures of the hanger or even better the hanger itself for my collection.
best,
jasper

Hello Jasper! Hope your trip to London went well!
Sorry if my second reply had come off as rude! I actually just reposted to keep the thread 'above water', if you know what I mean! Thank you so very much for this reply with valuable information, as I've wondered for years about the maker.
Oh, and by the way, I do now need reading glasses as well as my other lenses. Getting older! As far as posting a pic- I'll have to get mt 15yo daughter to help me do that. I am...ahem...technically challenged, but I'll try soon!
BTW, this hanger came from a small town just north of Colonial Williamsburg, making me think it came over the pond early??
