Default Ivory item for identification please

Hi All
I picked up the attached ivory item in a car boot sale
Exquisite carving and screws together very tight
However I have no clue as to what it is or where it comes from
Any and all ideas welcome
Two euro coin is for scale at 2.5 cm in diameter
Many thanks
Ken

Can you screw it together with the carved surfaces on the outside?
I was wondering whether it could be some form of button, or cuff link, or similar.
Regards
Richard

Thanks Richard
but no cant be screwed together with the decoration on the outside

I was thinking along the following

the inside is v rough with all the little spikes so if i was sewing a knitted woollen jumper together it would be an ideal clamp for holding together 2 pieces of knitted fabric stopping them from slipping around. But I don't knit and this idea is completely unfounded and without back up

cost me 2 euro and i am sure i will have a use for it sometime but would love to know what it could be

Regards to all and if someone can give me a valid reason as to why they should have it rather than I just let me know
