Default Indian matchlock torador barrel

Hi Guys,
I have this Indian matchlock since few years, but I never cleaned the barrel.
And I had a surprise: the barrel is decorated with elephants and tigers made of different kind of cooper, yellow and red...
Do you have any idea of the origins of this gun?
Thanks
Kubur

GREETINGS KUBUR
SORRY COULD NOT REPLY EARLIER,BUT ITS A VERY RARE AND UNUSUAL BARREL FOR A TORADOR,THIS ONE IS HIGHLY DECORATED AND I THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE FOR A ROYAL FAMILY OR NOBLEMAN,MOST TORADOR BARRELS WERE VERY ORDINARY,BUT YOURS IS EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL,AM SURE THIS GUN WILL CLEAN UP WELL AND LOOK GREAT ONCE RETURNED TO ITS FORMER GLORY,GOOD FIND ,CHEERS RAJESH

Hi Kubur!!
I've been out of town on business, and leaving again tomorrow.
I've seen a few of these Torador barrels decorated, but nothing quite like this. WOW !!! What a beautiful barrel !!!!
The "general" style of the stock, lock, and barrel look very similar to mine. So it would not surprise me if this gun was made in the same provincal area as mine.
The barrel on yours exibits a large amount of chisel work. Can you imagine how long it would take to do this?? You just never know what you will find under dirt and rust. LOL
Beautiful gun!!!
Rick.

By the way, the weekend after next, I should have the photos ready to Post of the interior of the breech of my barrel. Should be interesting.

Kabur,

I do not wish to be a wet blanket, but to me the decoration looks poorly done.
The shapes of the animals are rather crude, and the engraving is cruder.

High quality speaks for itself, but I am afraid I do not see it here.

Again, sorry for the negative assessment, and hopefully I am wrong. :-)

Rick,
Attached is a photo of a decent quality Torador. Not mine, but I place it here as a mere example of higher -end work.

Best wishes,
Richard.

Dear Richard,

I never said that my gun is a master piece, my friends did.
I just think that is a nice barrel.
And I still wish to know where it comes from...
Yes of course, yours is definitively better!!

Kabur,

No, you in no way inferred anything about the quality.
It Is nice, being very different, but was just trying to say I didn't think Princely ownership.

I have seen this type of decoration before somewhere. Was it on tulwar-hilted kukris?

The photo I attached above is not one that belongs to me.
I apologise if I came over in a rather blunt manner. It was not intended.

Very best regards,
Richard.
