ID Dagger
Hi all, just found this site, very nice! I've been trying to get any info on this knife, been searching the web for two days and haven't seen anything that even resembles this piece! The blade is approx. 7" long and the hilt is approx. 4". That's not rust on the blade, but some type of grease or oil to prevent rust. Any info would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome!
This forum is full of interesting informations and great fun at the same time, but first of all full of people with great knowledge. To be honest I don't know much about knives like this, but these links should be helpful for the first time, before someone will answer you more exactly: http://www.vikingsword.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000514.html http://www.vikingsword.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000514.html http://www.vikingsword.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000514.html Regards! |

Welcome WillH3
Your knife is usually called a gunong and comes from the Muslim peoples of the southern Philippines, often referred to collectively as "Moro."
As already stated, you will find many discussions here about Moro weapons in general, as well as the gunong. Ian. |
