Default Finely woven shark tooth horse whip thingy for comment

Another antique store find. This is a tapered 26 inch hardwood rod with 13 sharks teeth set into it, then covered in a neatly woven rattan cover. I believe I read about this in an article on the Filipino Latigo or horse whip and its use in fighting. From what I remember the woven cover was supposed to be looser, concealing the sharks teeth, but when you struck with it the teeth would come thru and do damage. If anyone has any info or other examples of this, I would appreciate it.

Thank you Mr. Simmons. Do you know does it actually have a use or purpose, or is it just a tourist curiosity?

Just a curiosity base on a traditional shark tooth sword like weapon.
