Buddha No.1.
Hi,
Can you tell me which part of the world this Buddha statue comes from, it is 13 inches (33cm) tall and is hollow cast. Thanks again. Regards, Norman. |

Thanks for the input chaps, from what I can find on the net it would appear to have more in common with Thai Buddhas than Tibetan Buddhas but I'm still looking.
My Regards, Norman. |

Hi Norman,
General thoughts expressed here suggest that your Buddha is Thai. I had always associated this particular "hairdo" with Thai Buddhas. Here are some pics of actual Thai Buddhas. Sorry quality is not A1 but most Temples don't like flash photography, or in fact ANY photography! Stu |

Hi,
Thanks to all for the input. It seems you were right all along Rajesh and Tibet/Nepal it is. Appears you have a thing for Buddhas which is completely understandable. I bought all of the statues in the understanding that they were relatively modern so no big surprises as to their age. The little bronze creatures I believe are mythical beasts from the land of Himmapan and I am still trying to identify the exact name for each, Singha was the keyword I needed so thanks again Rajesh. My Regards, Norman. Last edited by Norman McCormick; 18th June 2015 at 10:02 PM. |

Hi Stu,
At first I thought it was definitely Thai or that region but I did a lot of searching and to be honest I'm still confused as to generalised styles. Rajesh looks to have a good bit of knowledge judging by his collection and also Sajen's friend whom he states has good knowledge of the subject also i.d's it as Tibet/Nepal. My Regards, Norman. |
