Default Any ideas what these two curved daggers are called?

Hi,
these recently finished on eBay ... look relatively recent. The stacked handle and the stamping on the blade suggest Toureg But I have never seen this type attributed to North Africa. They look as if they would be used in pairs...one in each hand...in a slashing action... but there is little evidence of an edge and assume these are a tourist copy of a genuine form of dagger

However, these daggers are almost certainly tourist or modern. My concern is the markings....the half moon consisting of two stamps, the semi-circle and the face. I have seen identical marks on some Takouba...that were allegedly late 19thC

Any thoughts as to origins or name, thank you

Regards David

While these are obviously modern tourist souveniers, the manufacturers actually have some apparant degree of actual Tuareg weapons and old sword blades as they have applied loosely versions of markings. Interesting to see that particular detail.

Thanks Lew,
so they are not even a 'copy' of a genuine dagger?

Hi Jim,
yes, the main reason I posted these is to show the stamps, it seems that a number of Takouba's recently sold on eBay displayed identical marks...although not so many. These Takouba's were described as late 19th C and the winners paid good money for what ,I am certain, were probably late 90's.......1990 that is. I hope that none of the forum members were the buyers.... and hopefully if any more 'hit' the market others will be forewarned.

Kind Regards David
