Default African knife / WW2 souvenir?

Cheers,

got this knife recently.
Story is it was brought home by a German soldier from Northern Africa.
Any chance this is likely?

Thanks in advance for any input,
taube.

Interesting mixed materials on the hilt. Maybe a field constructed knife.
