Default Kipinga

Latest acquisition, a kipinga throwing knife from the Nzakara. What is special about it is that the back is hollow forged. I had seen pictures of this technique but had not had one in my hands until now. The handle is unfortunately missing and the small central rod is broken off at the top, otherwise in good condition.
In 2008 Luc Lefebre posted a similar kipinga on the forum, complete with handle.

Best regards
Marc

Hi Detlef

Thanks for your response, the only one so far. This type of weapon does not seem to have much interest on the forum. In the search function you won't find many posted in the past. Maybe because African throwing knives are well documented.

Best Regards
Marc

Hi Marc,

Jep, it's a little bit disappointing that your post doesn't get more attention. I personally find these Central African throwing knives most interesting but there seems not much interest in them. I have two for sale listed by ebay, one Zande and one Banda so I can't show them here. I find these weapons most interesting but sadly I can't collect everything!

Regards,
Detlef

I have seen them on the swap forum, good quality, interesting prices. After more than 30 years of collecting you do get some together, so I already have some. I will send you a pm.
Regards
Marc

I do find them interesting but simply don't have much knowledge to contribute. But please do keep sharing them!
