Hi everyone,

triggered by a forumity and finally after more than 100 years The mandau article of resident Tromp is translated.
It gives some high detailed information about used motifs ,blades etc etc.

I did the translation in my school english so it isn't perfect but its readable.

so here it is for all who's interested in mandaus...http://www.mytribalworld.com/pagina89.html

regards,

Arjan

Good Work Arjan!
I was happy to be able to read the Dutch language, but it is a good thing other collectors are able now to read this very old interesting article.
By the way I like the addition of the handles and the blade.
Is the one, on the additional image with those stars on the blade, in your own collection? Wow, never seen the stars like those in real!

Hi Maurice,

those stars are the stars in the mandau of the Sultan of Kutai.
I was lucky to have it in hands some years ago.

Interesting.
I already have got the dutch article from your previous downloads on your website, but haven't read it for I think 2 years.
So reading it over in english refreshes my memory
