Default Campilon with twistcore.

Here is a campilon with what appears to be a twist-core. This is a very old blade, probably the oldest that I have run across. It has a lot of staining, pitting and some edge damage in one spot. Because of this the pattern is not easily seen. Blade is 30 inches long. I can't remember what this handle type is called, only that it is a rare kind. When this blade was new, it was probably pretty impressive. Iv'e had this camp for many years, and just yesterday I decided to clean it up and etch it. imagine my surprise!!!!!!.....Dave.

Dave,
Beautiful and unique piece...the first I have seen with this type handle. Although probsbly not related at all I find the handle carving interestinly similar to the sun and stars motif found on many Katipunan age weapons and motif adapted for the Filipine Flag (1898 -present).
May not even be related but the three flowers arranged in a triangle around the centeral flower sure seems similar...again great piece with a great blade.
All my best,
John

Thumbs up

A REAL BEAUTY AND A PLEASURE TO BEHOLD. ITS INTERESTING WHEN WE FIND SOMETHING NEW WE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT AN ITEM WE HAVE HAD FOR YEARS. WHAT A TREAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN TO FIND SUCH AN INTERESTING PATTERN ON A OLD AND FAMILIAR BLADE.
DO YOU THINK IT IS A PHILIPPINE FORM OF KAMPILLIAN OR ONE OF THE FORMS FROM ANOTHER ISLAND GROUP CLOSER TO TODAYS INDONESIA. THANKS FOR SHOWING IT I ALWAYS ENJOY SEEING ANYTHING INVOLVING KAMPILIANS. BUT NOW I WANT ONE
