Default What is this ?

Last September 2 I paid a visit to a friend of mine with an huge collection of
weapons spreading from middle east to Indochina, Indonesia and Philippines.
It was my birthday spent in cataloguing and taking shots of items that
made me busy for almost 12 hours. I'm not allowed to share pictures here for resons to come, but I was allowed to choose (as birthday's present) one item to share. In my ignorance I choose the following one.
I've absolutely no idea of what it really is, other then a Moro Kris.
Please forgive the spirited face and attire. I was really tired :

Hi Carlo,

I moved this post to Ethnographic because we don't include the kris of the Moros in the Warung; it is a place for discussion of the smaller Indo/Malay keris and we consider the sword of the Moros to be in a different class.

Having said the aforementioned; my take on this piece is that it may well be a rather ordinary blade in outsized dress; I've been following your discussions on SFI about this piece and I think if it were indeed royal regalia it would have been made from richer materials with a blade of corresponding quality .
One doesn't see in old Moro arms much of a tendency to the outrageous or non functional side; even the most lavish high status swords are indeed still very functional and capable of carrying out their intended use .

If your friend needs to have his windows done, let him call me for the same arrangement ( I choose one sword).
I also vacuum, iron shirts and do a mean beef stew (same price)

LOL !! This is the reason because of I'm not allowed to post the *other* items not only here but everywhere. Anyway seems my choice was a poor one. And the Keris is NOT mine now...

Why would you say your choice was a poor one. The sword obviously appealed to you because you chose it to show us. You only have to satisfy yourself and not us.

The matter that bother me is that I hadn't see anything like that before and
I assumed it was important, but it turned out to be nothing really worthy.
This gave me the dimension of my ignorance about Keris...
