Default 2 New Daggers

Thanks to a fellow forum member "Thank you Neil" I have just been able to add these two daggers to my Luzon dagger collection. I think that they will be quite at home with their brothers after they arrive and I will post new pictures then. I believe that these both would date to the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Any thought or comments that anyone would like to make will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Robert

Very Nice Robert.

Is the larger one definately Luzon? To my lay-eye it has a very Chinese look.
Is it Chinese influenced?
Both very nice and solid looking daggers mate!

Congrats.

Hello Gene, As these have arrived and I have had time to closely examine them I am now convinced that the longer one is from the Philippines. I believe that it was made by a Chinese blacksmith in the late 19th or early 20th century and that is why it shows Chinese influence in the design of its guard and pommel. The blade styling as well as the faceted horn grip with the notched decoration are seen on quite a few daggers that were made in Luzon. Of coarse I could be wrong about all of this but it is what I believe at this point. I would greatly appreciate the opinions of the other members here on this as well as their thoughts on the other dagger posted with it.

Regards,
Robert
