Was there a question or observation? What do you know about provenance, the style of hilt etc. Do you collect in this field?

I find it hard to believe that these daggers are 300 yrs old based on the inscribing. If these are indeed Mahdist period dagger they can't be older than 1885?

I dunno if in English has a meaning, but we said (Frenchies)
- the paper never refuse ink and when it's engraved in marble or iron

In portuguese: paper accepts all...
I believe the Mahdists copied what already existed ...in this case: the style of the words Thuluth and the design of daggers. How copied others styles: indian, mamluk, western african ..
