Mixed Bag
Hi All!
These three daggers have been in my collection for a while now. The kindjal is well made and the blade is sharp, the sheath is made with good quailty silver and brass. The other two are Jordanian shabariyasof very recent make but are very well made with sharp good thick steel blades and a fine quality silver and brass sheath. I first want to know where the kindjal comes from and a possible age. Also hopefully someone can translate the makers marks on the Jordanian dagger blades and why on the large one is the eagle of Saladinwhich seems to be associated with Egypt not Jordan? Any comments and information is more than welcome! Mark... |

Does this mean no one can translate the makers marks or where the kindjal is from?

It seems to me that the Kindjal is of recent Russian or Georgian mass manufacture.
I may be wrong due to quality of pics; maybe you can post better ones. |

The scabbard is recent for sure. If the blade is as sharp as you told,it can be an original old blade mounted to modern hilt and scabbard, but can be a modern over average quality mass produced or hand forged blade as well.

I know it can sometimes be misleading to take things at face value, but isn't this blade marked 2003? Is there any reason not to assume that is the date of manufacture.

yes but 2003 writes on the Arabic ones and Aurangzeb already accepts they are newly made. He's not sure about the kindjal.
