What do you think about this contemporary Philippine Sandata?
Hey there, I would like your opinons regarding this online store that is selling Philippine cutlery,
http://www.valiantco.com/philippines.html Do you say the makers have done justice to traditional forms, is it quality workmanship? what about the carved designs, are they reminesent of tradition or not? or any other comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. |

Some of the pieces are good to the traditional work, and some are not. Like the kampilan damascus best. Dislike the Bagobo one the most.

Bought a damascus GREEK KOPIS from them a year or so ago. Poor quality, both the piece and the scabbard. Returned for refund. Seller was difficult, but gave refund. Glad I used PayPal.

Since you requested comments. I would look at kriscutlery.com for Philippine Sandata. Cecil really knows his stuff and was mentioned by Cato as being the foremost Moro expert in the USA. What I have purchsed from Kriscutlery has been first rate although I have not purchased any Sandata. I do recommend "Crossing the Sulu Seas", it's now on dvd, very cool.
