Unknown stamp at two pistols
The pictures show a Danish navy pistole M 1849 and an Austrian M 1789 cavalry pistol transformed to percussion. Both pistols show the same absolutely unknown stamp, a double uncrowned eagle. Does anybody know or has ever seen this stamp? The missing crown says imho that it is not Austria or Russia.

Funny.
It seems not only the same mark, but also the same die. Danish captured by Prussian, Austrian captured by Prussian? Were these in service in 1864 and 1866? The German states of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and Schwarzburg-Sondershausen continued to use the double-headed eagle as well until they were abolished shortly after the First World War, and so did the Free City of Lübeck until it was abolished by the Nazi government in 1937. Some place arsenal mark? Flag of Ravensburg Bürgerwehr in 1849 Last edited by midelburgo; 1st February 2022 at 01:50 PM. |

Many thanks for your answer, but Schwarzburg and Lübeck are not the only to use a double headed eagle, there are lots more.
