It's a Pakayun from the Murut tribe in NW Borneo.
Seems like I wasn't the only one who didn't notice it.

VVV, isn't the brass extension past the grip on to the pommel a little unusual??

Hi Charles,

If it's brass I agree that it's uncommon.
It could also be a wooden area that originally had weaved rattan, which is more common?
I find it hard to see on the pictures what it is except that it hasn't the same colour, or patina, as either the brass grip or the wooden fork extension.

I wonder if the new owner realized that this isn't an "Indo-Persian" piece...
Maybe he would be interested in swapping?

Seems to me to be brass on the pommel, too - let's see what Ben has to say about it.

Hi it is an nice pakayun and I did see more with the brass in the middle
but this one looks like they put it on later .
