It's a naga form keris .

The blade 'seems' old .

I can't tell the pamor without seeing it in a proper stain .

The hilt seems to be a Surakarta form .

Again, this blade confuses me; is it Mataram style, or Madurese ??

The pendok seems to be repoussed on both sides; this is not usual in my limited experience .

Restore ?
No .

Maybe get the blade stained; that's all I would suggest .

Hello Chregu

Welcome to the forum. It's nice to see another Swiss member here!
Your naga keris has a rather nice overall shape and a ganja Kelap Lintah (waved ganja). It's difficult to tell its age, but the keris appears to be heavily polished.

Regards,

Heinz

I would limit any restoration of the dress to a light cleaning of the pendok with 0000 steel wool and a polishing cloth, and good quality wax furniture polish on the wood.

The blade does appear to require the attention of a careful and experienced m'ranggi. Since you are in Switzerland, I would endorse Rick's advice :- no blade restoration.

The hilt appears to have a selut within the selut, and they are not of the same material/style.

I think that this keris has had another type / style of hilt.

the outher selut and pendok are obiously of the same making.
So I would not change that. But maybe indeed a cirebon ukiran would have been the original fitting

Nice wood grain indeed.

Hullo everybody,

Nice piece! Reminds me of a Naga Sasra by Handjani but in a more recent Tjirebon style with a strong Djawa influence.

Best,

Best,
I haven't a clue what you mean by this. Care to show some examples?
