I hate to be a naysayer and I coudl very well be wrong but the brass pieces look too clean/new to be associated with 14th century...

Hope you didnt re morgage the house on this piece?

Realy does look like it was put together in the last 10 years rather than 700 years ago to my eye..

What makes you believe its from the 13 hundreds?
