Keris Patrem
Dear members ,
Would love to get your comments on this keris . It s a 24 cm long keris which could be classified into the patrem section . The previous owner gave me these details : Bought in 2009 in the palace Kasepuhan Cirebon 1. Dapur : Pandawa Keprabon 2. Tangguh : Cirebon Sepuh 3. Pamor : Pedaringan kebak 4. Warangka : gaya cirebon "kudup kenanga" The blade fit perfectly into the sheath , aged patina really nice . Ganja is matching in shape but not the same pamor .... is that unusual for this kind of keris ? Difficult with the keris on hand to confirm the age of this one but would love to get your comments . Not sure the 300 to 400 years old announced by previous owner are into the brackets !! Henri |

Ganja is normal for such pamor (to balanced, aesthetically).

Nice piece but from the proportions (long ganja and wide sogokan as compared to the blade, almost no slorok) I wonder whether the blade was shortened and narrowed? I attach the picture of another patrem for comparison.

Thank you for your replies . Jean , after close viewing I can t see any trace of reshaping / welding ...Pamor is quite constant and flow naturally . May be the maker has got this design in mind ...?

This is just my opinion and I do not pretend to be right but the ratio between the lenght of the blade and the ganja seems outside the pakem. Attached is the picture of a patrem kris with a re-shaped old blade which is more visible than yours as the 7th luk is missing (skeleton blade as says Alan). Opinions from others will be welcome.....
