Default Khyber knife for comment

Hi

I bought this Khyber knife some years ago (I particularly liked the old label).
Not really my area, so could any forum member please tell me some more about it.

Length of the knife only is 25 inches, the chape looks as if it could be a replacement ? The old label is pretty illegible, but is written in Urdu ?

Feels like a real fighting weapon.

Many thanks.

Hi,
Colin really like the knife, I'm always keen to see 'users' rather than showpiece items and this looks like it may have been someones 'close companion'.
A question for the more knowledgeable out there. These knives seem to vary somewhat both in design and quality, are there regional variances or is age a more relevant factor in these differences or more likely, a combination of factors?
Regards,
Norman.

Many thanks for your comments gentlemen. I too prefer weapons that have actually been used, rather than display or prestige items.

I wondered if this knife might have been a souvenir of one of the 19th century British campaigns in the N.W. frontier. Would like to know what the old label says...

Regards
Colin
