Default Keris Riau ?

Hi Guys,

I did recieve this keris today .

I think its a Riau keris , its a small one.
The blade is a ganja iras , and it looks it has a form of a wenkon pamor but its not verry clear to see now.
I did clean it a little, the blade had a verry thick black oily finish (weapon oil?)

the gandar is a verry bad replacement , blade fit,s quite nice.

ofcoure any opinion is welcome , someone has a idea about the age ?

regards

Hi Danny,

I hope you didn't take the wrong one of the lots.
I can only say that it looks better and older in real as they do on your images. Maybe therefore no comments yet?

Best,
Maurice

Well first off Danny, i would say that the photos are a little lacking and it's hard enough to make any worthy comments when photos are good. That said, it looks like you have a nice restoration project on your hands. The sheath looks original (that is to say, made for the blade) and it looks to have a real nice fit. Obviously the sheath needs repair and restoration and the blade needs a good cleaning. The blade is a simple, but appealing one and it has a nice brass pendokok from what i can see.

Hi Danny,

A good kitchen with a hairblower does the job too...

Hi Danny,

this pictures look different than the ones you send me by e-mail, I am not sure anymore that the gandar is a replacement. Will be nice to see pictures by daylight, the weather is good now!

Best regards,

Detlef
