A ‘Parrot’ Sewar
Here is an interesting sewar with parrot decoration. It seems to have some age, because the wood has a nice patina. The blade is laminated.
Is it an old tourist souvenir? Or were such pieces made for the local use too? I would appreciate any comments… |

my guess no tourist Sewar. These parrot hilts I've seen many times by Sewars, maybe a local character? Look for example here (link removed) BTW very nice Sewar. sajen Last edited by Rick; 24th July 2009 at 03:53 PM. |

Sayen thank you very much for the info and the link!
I do not know much about these daggers. I am happy that it is not a tourist souvenir, but an authentic piece. The blade of mine is laminated, but the layers are not contrasting (like on the sewar in the link), so it was impossible to make a good stain and show the lamination clearly. |

the lamination is most of the time very fine so it's sometimes difficult to make a good stain. Again, a very nice Sewar. Detlef |
