30 kerises stolen from gallery

Hopefully they'll recover those pieces soon. I think those are good pieces, too bad haven't got the chance to have a glance at it.

This is a nightmare for all of us who collect things of value. I had my collection of swords and knives pretty much cleaned out by thieves a number of years ago -- almost 20 years of collecting wiped out, and much of it could not be replaced.

Do you think there is any chance that pictures of the stolen items will be published so that any attempt to sell them at international auction or via the internet could be detected? Or do you think this is probably a "local" crime and unlikely to involve the international market? Perhaps the fact that other items were left behind might suggest the latter.

I don't think there're any chances for me to obtain the pictures.

Stolen item might be sold to keris brokers or even collectors from the country of origin.The brokers then might even sell them off to other collectors and interested shop owners who had no idea where those kerises come from.
IMO chances for it to be distributed internationally is not impossible.

Investigators should start scouring antique shops now. There's no way the thieves can dispose of 30 kerises at a decent price without a dealer, unless of course they were directed to do so by some evil, covetous collector who wants the kerises for himself.

Sorry to hear this.

I think it is a problem of large cities.
Where I live, you can't steal a car because it is too small a city and too easy to locate.
If you spot something you just sound the alarm, and the border, the airport and the jetfoil pier are instantly in red alarm.
Anyway, god forbid an intelligent building to forget to be intelligent.
